Does Worx Trivac Really Work?

The WORX Trivac WG500 is a very popular blower mulcher vacuum all in one unit – thanks to the regular advertisements on TV. This unit has been a bestseller for quite some time now.

Users of this machine swear by its efficiency and are marveled by its ease of use. I was able to use and test it multiple times when I helped a buddy of mine who had recently broken his arm.  I was amazed at how easy it was to vacuum under hard to reach places with the angle of the tube.

I have been disappointed many times before by products that are advertised on TV.  I have been carried away by the claims made by many such products and there beautiful models only to be disappointed later when I got my hand on those products.

But with the WORX Trivac WG500, I have to tell you that it really works well and is worth every dime that you spend on it. Many also commonly refer to this unit as the “WORKS Trivac Leaf Blower Vac” or the “WORKS Blower Vacuum”

Let us take a look at what this unit has to offer.

WORX Trivac WG500 blower vac mulcher specifications

Motor amps – 12 amps Blow speed – 210 miles per hour Vacuum capacity – 350 CFM Leave shredding reduction – 10:1 Mulch collection bag capacity – 1.5 Bushels Unit weight – 8.4 Lbs Warranty – two year full warranty

Powerful yet efficient motor

It features a powerful 12 amp motor that can deliver up to 210 MPH of airspeed when used in the blower mode. The WORX Trivac leaf blower has a variable blow speed control, just like the Toro 51599, that will allow you to choose the blow speed to a lower speed setting for sensitive surfaces.

This powerful motor also packs a punch when it comes to its “sucking” efficiency. It has a great vacuum capacity of 350 CFM. To give you an idea of how powerful it was in its vacuum mode – I was able to suck in about 12 gallons of dry leaves, after blowing them to a side, in less than a minute.

Great Mulcher

The integrated mulcher on this machine can convert 10 bags of leaves into one bag of mulch. This means you would have enough bag capacity for larger jobs and there will be no need to go empty the bag often. Its mulching ratio of 10:1 is much better than many of its counterparts in the market.  I also noticed that the mulch was even and was perfect for my buddy’s flower beds.

The only issue that I have with this unit is that it’s impeller is made of plastic and not metal. Chances of the plastic impeller breaking are more than that for a metal one.

Innovative angular tube design

First look at this blower vac and you will know right away that you’ll be able to clean hard to get places without much trouble – like under your deck.  The angular tube design on the WORX Trivac is both unique and innovative. Most blowers usually only have a straight tube and you would have to work hard to get to troublesome spots.

Mulch bag capacity

The collector bag for the mulch on the “WORKS Trivac” is a pretty decent size. The bag can hold up to 10 gallons of mulch.  This large capacity is equivalent to 100 gallons of dry leaves.  You will not have to frequently empty the bag for large sized yard cleanups.  The bag is also made from a special nylon fabric which aids easy airflow into the bag.

Low noise level

This unit operates at a very low noise level compared to its gas powered counterparts. According to manufacturer’s website  the WORX Trivac WG 500’s noise level was measured at less than 70 decibels. To give you an idea of how loud 70 decibels is – an electric shaver and an alarm clocks’ noise is about 80 decibels.  Electric leaf blowers are typically less noisy than gas powered ones.

Easy to use

It is a very light weight unit.  It only weighs 8.3 pounds! I have severe back problems and I felt just fine even after using the Trivac for about 2 hours nonstop.  The other thing I noticed is that the wrap around handle grip is nice and soft. Your fingers and palm will love it.

Changing the WORX Trivac from the blower mode to the vacuum mode and viceversa is as simple as flipping a switch – very quick and easy. If the impeller is ever clogged with debris or dirt, a simple push of a button will open the impeller housing.  You can clean it up and put it back in no time.

Conclusion

My initial apprehensions of the WORX Trivac WG500 leaf blower vac were overcome when i was able to test it, use it and see  the results for myself. It opened my eyes to the fact that not all products advertised on TV are bad and overly hyped. The unit lived up to its word and it is definitely a work horse. I used this light-weight heavy duty machine for about 2 hours and my shoulders and back hardly felt any strain. Changing from blower mode to vac mode was a breeze and a big advantage over gas powered leaf blowers that need removing and adding tubes for different modes. Adding the fact that the WORX trivac leaf blower vacuum was not noisy and loud, i think this is one of the better products available in the market today. I am already thinking about buying this for my dad’s next birthday. I am sure he will love it!
